If someone had asked me last year what school I wished to attend, I would've said Howard University, an HBCU that I felt would be perfect for a girl like myself, who has rarely had interaction with individuals of her own race.
However its nearing the end of senior year, and I'm sitting here on my computer with a bottle full of water and a massive amount of homework before me to say that I'll be attending the United States Military Academy in less than a month.
I suppose if we're being honest here, I didn't think I would be admitted which is why the shock of my acceptance still feels fresh like the day after a good downpour.
A part of me is incredibly excited to take part in such an honorable commitment, but obviously I can't help but wonder if I'll make friends, if I'll fit in and if I'll like it.
Writing about what my next four years will be like seems like a smart way to stay sane, and like the novel, "The Things They Carried" by Tim O'Brien, maybe I can look back on this experience and be wiser.
Haha anyway with that being said, this blog is going to be brutally honest and hopefully informative, so if you're interested stay tuned.
